Born in Atlanta, attended Marion Smith Elementary. In 1950, my family moved to Welcome All Community, near Fairburn, GA and I finished elementary school at Eastern in Red Oak. I commuted to Russell High with eight other Russell students. After graduation, I worked for America Fore Loyalty Group as a private secretary. In 1961, I married Edsel Cleveland, a widower with 3 children. In 1964, we had a daughter. In 1970 with all the kids in school, I started my own businesses. I was a wedding planner (caterer & florist) for 25 years. In 1989 Edsel retired from Cox Enterperises as a Senior VP and shortly thereafter opened his own business, dealing with the magazine publishers and distributors. We built a new home in Fayette County in 1986. Just after our last child married, in 1990, Edsel had open heart surgery. In Feb.1994 our fourth grandchild was born and only 9 months later ( Nov. of 1994) Edsel passed away. We were married 32 years. In March 2001, I moved to Cumming, GA, near Lake Lanier to be near my kids.
The four children are Lynn, who married an investment broker, lives in Cumming and has a daughter (Staci)...Mart (Edsel L.. Jr.) graduated from UGA, became a Navy pilot and now is president of the business his father founded, Rebecca is a Montessori teacher and has two children (Taylor & Eleanor). Kelly attended Oglethorpe Univ. on a scholarship from Woodward Academy and has a degree in nursing and marketing. She has two children (Tori & Ty) and they live in Alpharetta.
God has blessed me with wonderful parents, a fantastic husband, great kids & beautiful grandchildren.
I am a member of John's Creek Baptist Church, Dr. Bill Self, pastor.
