After graduation from Russell, I worked at Rich's until school began in September and I went to Reinhardt Jr. College in Waleska, Ga. for two years.  After graduation, I worked for Rich's for 6 months, then went to Georgia Southern College in January '62. I graduated in May, 1964 with a BS in Elementary Education.  I taught 3rd grade at Newton Estates School in College Park for two years.

I met Jerry, the love of my life, in February, 1965, and we married in October of the same year.  We moved to Temple, Ga. in August, 1967.  We lived in Temple for 7 years, Jerry worked at Southwire, and later, had a hardware/building supply store, and had a housing development, and I stayed home and took care of our 3 children.     In 1974, after the hardware/building supply store, and housing development failed, we moved to Etowah, Tn.  Jerry worked at J.M. Huber Corp. and I stayed home with the children.  In 1976, we had our fourth child.  In 1982 I began looking at going back to school to renew my teaching certificate.  Since I had always thought I would like Nursing, I went back to school and got my Nursing degree.  After graduation in 1985, I worked at Sweetwater Hospital in Med/Surg for two years.  I then went to work at Woods Memorial Hospital here in the county in Med/Surg and after 2 years, began working in the Intensive Care Unit.  I retired from Woods after 20 years and now teach for the Tennessee Technology Center in Athens, Tn.  I teach Certified Nurse Assistants for 2 counties here in E. Tennessee.

We have 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.  Joy Webb, our oldest daughter teaches at Murray Co. H.S. in Ga. and she has two children, Jonathan, and Joslyn.  Chris, our oldest son lives in Knoxville and works for Wal-Mart in Human Resourses.  Cindy Darnell, our third child, lives in Benton, Tn., has two children, Lindsey, and Jake, and works as a pediatric nurse.  Jonathan, our last child, lives in Knoxville, has one child, Logan.  He works as a consultant in management information systems.  Our oldest grandson, Jonathan (Joy's son) is in the Army in Anchorage, Alaska.  He has a son, Elijah, our great grandson.

I enjoy reading, gardening, yardwork, and volunteering at the local hospital.  I greatly enjoy family activities with the children and grandchildren.  We attend church here in Etowah, where Jerry leads the singing, and preaches at times.
