Following graduation, I attended two different Church of Christ colleges before earning a B.A. degree in Mathematics at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 1968.  Additionally, I have earned over 30 quarter hours in post-graduate courses and have attended numerous classes, workshops, seminars and lectureships in connected with the profession of school teaching as well as the work of a preacher.

For almost 50 years, I have served as a preacher for the Church of Christ.  During half of those years, I have served as a “full-time” preacher in Georgia, Texas, and West Virginia.  I taught mathematics for 16 years and preached on a “part-time” basis.  For three years, I was Head of the Mathematics Department at Bryan County High School in Pembroke, Georgia.
On October 9, 1965, I married the former Marilyn Marshall, in East Point, Georgia. We have four grown children: Diane Katherine (born 1970), Rachel Anne (born 1975), David Andrew (born 1979) and Mark Eugene (born 1982).  Diane is married to Mark Wilson; have two children: Megan Elizabeth (born 1998) and Hailey Danyel (born 2002).  They live near Ellijay, Georgia.  Rachel is a Veterinarian in Hinesville, Georgia, (graduating with a 4.0 from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, in 2000) and lives near Guyton, Georgia.  David is married to Monique; has a son Kyle Andrew (born 1998) and a son Brayden Andrew (born 2005); lives near Ellijay, Georgia.  Mark is married to Holly and has adopted Hannah Elizabeth (born 2001).  They live near Savannah, Georgia, in Rincon.

Marilyn and I moved to Jacksonville, Florida in March, 2002, where I preach for the Chaffee Road Church of Christ.  We spend a lot of time each week visiting the hospitals, ministering to shut-ins and the elderly, counseling, and teaching Bible classes. In addition to writing a weekly article for the local church bulletin, I have written articles for local newspapers as well as for numerous religious journals associated with the Church of Christ and spoken on regular radio programs in various places. Along with Marilyn, I am committed to "donating" two weeks each year to hold a Gospel Meeting in a mission area of Georgia where the church may be small and struggling.
My hobbies are reading and enjoying the beach (usually Jekyll Island, Georgia.)
