Russell High Class of 1959
home of the wildcats
After graduating from William A. Russell High School on May 30, 1959, I entered Georgia State College, and studied for two years. In addition, I began private music lessons, studying voice, piano, and organ for many years.
In October 1960, I went to work for Eastern Air Lines, Inc., where I worked for 30 plus years, during that time I did some traveling. I ended my career with Eastern on the last day they operated - January 18, 1991, as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Airport Services. I have been retired since that day – My husband, Robert, said I had worked enough.
I now pick up gigs at funeral homes singing, playing the piano or organ. I get no complaints - but I get no encores either!!
In 1970, I married the love of my life, Robert Reid (a RHS graduate); we have been married for 38 1/2 years.
I am very active in my church, Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. I have taught children in Sunday School and choirs for 20 plus years. I am a member of the
Adult Choir, Handbell Choir (been ringing for 38 years), soloist, pianist for senior choir "Amazing Grace Singers". I am the Flower Committee Chairman. We decorate the church at Christmas, and special times during the year.
I am on the Finance Committee (and if anyone reading this would like to donate some money to our Church, we would be happy to accept it!).
My hobbies are collecting rabbits, angels, bells, crystal/glass; Christmas ornaments; going to estate/yard sales; sewing/quilting; gardening. I became
a Master Gardener in 1999, and then continued classes under the University of Georgia Extension Services and obtained my goal of Advanced Master Gardener. I am now attending computer classes to keep my mind active.
